How Do You Make Mulled Wine?
It’s really very simple. There’s something wonderful about warm spiced wine. The combination of the smell, warmth, and flavor is magical and a must-have for cool fall or winter evenings. Toss all of your ingredients into a pot or crockpot and set to simmer. Once it’s warm, it’s ready to serve! It will also make your home smell fabulous.
What Wine is the Best for Mulled Wine?
Pinot Noir is kind of our go-to for everything. We always recommend a red wine you like to drink.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of red wine, we recommend any of our pinot noir wines
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1/4 cup brandy, optional
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 orange, sliced
- 4 cloves
- 6 peppercorns
- additional spices to taste and additional cinnamon sticks and orange slices for garnish
Directions:
- Add all of your ingredients into a pot or crockpot and bring to a simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove cloves and peppercorns. Serve in heatproof glasses. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange slice.
Please note: You may mix all of your ingredients together or instead of adding in the spices loose, you can use a spice ball to keep them contained. Keep in mind that you want the mixture to warm up and only simmer, do not let the mixture boil.
Warm and Cozy Pinots
For more than a decade Winemaker Jon Priest has fashioned Etude wines with a simple creed. Inspired winegrowing diminishes the need for a winemaker to intervene in the cellar. Whether sourcing from the estate Grace Benoist Ranch in Sonoma's Los Carneros, or vineyards like Fiddlestix and North Canyon in famed growing regions of California’s Central Coast, his focus is on coaxing the very best from the vineyard. It shows in every glass of Etude.
